Making Learning Relevant

The museum offers many educational opportunities for students of all ages. Computer based modules allow the use of technology to learn more about the museum while reviewing concepts that align with State Educational Benchmarks and Standards with Grade Level Expectations included. In addition, a children’s book has been written to help children learn about the museum’s past.  The book, Pinestraw the Sawmill Cat tells of sawmill life through the eyes of a cat. Our on-staff educational director is on hand to help you develop lesson plans that meet the needs for the concepts you wish to present.  Contact Claudia at 318-748-8400 to assist you in designing your lesson plans, pre-visit  and follow-up activities.  From a coloring book for the little ones, to a TrackStar for the high school student, we are focusing on lessons that engage all learning modalities and stress high-order thinking skills.
