Frequently Asked Questions

When are you open, how much is admission, and how long is the tour?

SFHM is open Wednesday to Saturday, from 9 AM to 4 PM. It's $8 per adult, children 6-12 yrs $5 and children under 5 are free. It takes 1-3 hours to do the driving tour (we no longer offer guided tours) and gates promptly close at 4 so please plan your trip accordingly. If you plan to walk then definitely plan to be at the museum longer as there's 60 acres of places to visit!

How much is the wedding venue and when can I come visit to look?

There are 4 wedding packages to pick from which you can see on the website. To visit the venue and make plans, please drop into the office building on the right side of the red gate on any day we are open to let us know you are there for a possible wedding, and not visitors that need to pay for admission.

I want to volunteer my time, when can I do this?

SFHM has a monthly volunteer work weekend session that is posted on our social media sites, the Red River & Gulf site and sent out in email blasts. You can either check our Facebook, Instagram or Google for these updates or sign up on our email lists to receive notifications of these weekends (send an email to southernforestheritagemuseum@gmail.com Subject Line: VOLUNTEERS). You can also call us at 318-748-8404 when we are open to see if there is anything that may be need to be done in the moment.

I'm a harvest host camper, how should I go about scheduling a spot?

Campers are parked out front of the Commissary. Our parking lot is small so we cannot host any campers over 35 ft.. If you are planning on staying while we are open (Wednesday to Saturday) please call us at 318-748-8404 to give us a heads up and make sure visitors do not park in the lot. If you are coming anytime after 4:00 on Saturday or on Monday-Tuesday then you do not have to worry about letting us know, as no one will be here and the parking lot is outside the museum complex. All we ask of you is to not block the post office entrance and the driveway into the parking lot.
