The 1st Annual Long Leaf Steam-Up Event

October 23-24th, 2021            9 AM to 4 PM Sat       9 AM to 3 PM Sun

A two-day fall event for our railroad fans of the South at the Southern Forest Heritage Museum & Research Center!

The event will feature several “Gauge 1” live steam-powered locomotive models from the International Small Scale Steam-Up Company.  They will have temporary tracks set up in the Lumber Storage sheds. To gain an understanding of what to expect at a Steam-Up, check out the 2019 steam-up held by the International Small Cale Steam-Up Company here.

In addition, the much-anticipated news, the Fernwood, Columbia & Gulf M-4—affectionally called the “Doodlebug”—will be in operation! After being out of commission for repairs since May, the volunteers of the Red River & Gulf Railroad group will enthusiastically bring groups of people around the perimeter of the museum.

Participants of the Steam-Up have free admission.

Public’s entrance fee to the event and museum will be $5 per person with children 5 years and younger free.
